The welcome
The first time you sign in, Viewfield walks you through four steps at /welcome: Your website, Your voice, AI visibility and Your CMS. Every step after the first has Skip for now, and a person who leaves midway comes back to the step they left, with the pages already read. The point is a voice that sounds like you and a first set of buyer questions, so the first draft and the first AI visibility run are both about your company.
Your website
"Let's find your voice." Enter your site and press Read my site. Viewfield reads the home page, the sitemap and the about page, and shows each page the moment it has been read; there is no timer and no fake progress. The workspace takes your brand's name from the site. A read that fails says so and lets you describe the company instead.
No website yet? No website yet? Describe it takes a sentence about what you make and who it is for, at least eight words and 40 characters, and Start from this goes on from it. Below that there is nothing to read, and a voice proposed from nothing is full of invented detail you would have no reason to doubt.
Your voice
One model call proposes, from what your site says:
- Sounds like: three to five words ("plain, confident, a bit cheeky") and a sample line your brand could publish tomorrow.
- The four dials: formal to casual, plain to bold, serious to playful, technical to simple, each set only as far as your site's own writing shows.
- Brand basics: what you sell, who buys it and why, a mission if your site states one, your values.
- We will keep to: two to four standing rules your copy already follows, and under Never say, up to four words or phrases your site clearly avoids.
Sounds like us accepts it. Tune it opens the same four dials the Brand page has; releasing a dial rewrites the sample line so you hear the difference, and Done closes them. Use a different website starts the read again. The proposal fills blanks only: anything a person already wrote is left as written.
Setup is paid for by Viewfield, not from your allowance.
AI visibility
"What buyers ask AI about you." Viewfield proposes the category buyers search for, in a buyer's words ("payroll software for small businesses", never your own tagline), and 10 questions buyers ask AI assistants about it, written from your site's description. Reword, remove or add questions ("Add a question a buyer would ask"); change the category and press Rewrite, and the questions are written around it again. Looks good saves every edit at once and starts the first run; Skip for now starts it too, because a trial is measured from signup. If you leave without pressing either, the first run starts on its own after 30 minutes.
The first run asks each question of the engines your plan covers, once (on the trial, ChatGPT). From then on the questions are asked every week; with the Daily tracking add-on, your first 25 questions are checked on ChatGPT every day as well (on Starter, every question). Starter tracks ChatGPT. Pro tracks ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity. The All engines add-on adds Claude, Gemini and Perplexity to Starter. See Questions for how questions are edited later, and The engines for how answers are collected.
Your CMS
"Connect your CMS", so a finished post can be saved there as a draft. The welcome offers Payload when it is open for your workspace: paste an integration user's API key, and Viewfield finds Payload on your website and proves the key. Then add your posts collection as the destination under the connection, with the address your posts have on your site; see Payload. Nothing publishes from here: a piece goes to the CMS as a draft from its editor, and live only by a separate press.
Skip it if your CMS is not Payload or you would rather do it later: Settings › Connections has every CMS Viewfield connects to. See Publishing.
After the welcome
You land on Home. Four things make the first week better, in roughly this order:
- Read the voice on Brand: the dials, the sample line, the rules and the words you never say. Or tell Ask Viewfield "never say seamless" or "always open with the customer's problem", confirm the card it shows, and the next draft obeys.
- Check the questions on Visibility: the ones proposed, and the companies AI answers may name instead of you (an optional list on the board; nothing is researched about them).
- Add a doc on Brand › Docs: a messaging framework, product facts, proof points. Always-read docs go into every draft.
- Invite the team from Workspace settings › Members (see Settings), and connect an agent with an API key if you work in Claude Code or Cursor.
Changing the website later (Brand › Description) can read the site again; it never replaces anything a person accepted or wrote.
